Poverty to come under review

Frank Field, Labour MP for Birkenhead, is to lead an independent review into poverty.

In an article in the Daily Telegraph, Mr Field, the new poverty tsar, said he did not believe that spending more money is the solution and called for a new definition of poverty which would take into account non-monetary factors. The Independent Review on Poverty and Life Chances is expected to report to Prime Minister David Cameron before the end of the year.
