The Northern Ireland Executive said last week that social events were now returning to normal in the Province, which saw only one confirmed case of the disease, in Meigh, Co Armagh, since the outbreak began in England in February. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said last week that it hoped the Province would achieve full regionalisation status from 19 April.
Dr Bob McCracken, the department's chief veterinary officer, said, 'It was a very considerable achievement to secure full regionalisation status for Northern Ireland from 19 April.'
