The Scottish Executive has announced funding for a further 14 local authorities to roll out the New Community Schools approach, bringing the total to 30. New Community Schools bring teachers, social workers, family workers and health personnel together to develop services centred on the needs of children and their families. Minister for education and young people Cathy Jamieson said, 'The provision of integrated services focused on the needs of the individual child is a key element in our strategy for closing the attainment gap.'
