The first of nine regional early years centres run by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) is being set up in Hartlepool. Each NDNA Regional Early Years Centre will provide facilities for training and support services for local childcare providers and community groups, strengthening the role of the NDNA in the regions. Each centre will also incorporate a Neighbourhood Nursery, providing 80 places for childcare and early education for children aged nought to five years. NDNA chief executive Rosemary Murphy said, 'We are delighted to be bringing to Hartlepool the first NDNA Regional Early Years Centre. NDNA has already done a lot of work with nurseries in the north-east and built up strong links here.' Capital funding supporting the centres will come from the New Opportunities Fund.
