Money matters a regular round-up of funding

* As part of its New Opportunities for Quality Childcare programme,the Big Lottery Fund has distributed grants totalling 220,000 to eight projects across Scotland. Coatbridge College in North Lanarkshire has been awarded 80,000 to build a new nursery and bring the total of full-time places to 59. The nursery will also offer work experience placements to childcare and education students. A grant of 60,423 was made to Shetland Islands Council to hire a playworker to develop a parents' group in the west of Shetland. Seashells Nursery in Berwickshire also received 6,000 to create an outdoor play area for its 24 children. Aisling Centre Company, a counselling service in Enniskillen, has received 25,000 to extend its creche and create an outdoor play area. Eglinton Community Pre school Playgroup in Londonderry and Jolly Tots Community Playgroup in Enniskillen both received grants of 10,300 to develop their outdoor play facilities. Home-Start Down District in Ballynahinch was awarded 19,153 to improve its existing facilities and Newtownards Road Women's Group in Belfast received 90,000 to extend the existing playgroup rooms and build a covered outdoor play area.
