
Within the webcasts, launched by the Children’s Food Trust, chef Sophie Atkins-Ward shares her tips on setting up a cooking area and practical food activities nurseries can try with children.
In one webcast, Ms Atkins-Ward, who reached the semi-finals of the BBC show earlier this year, demonstrates how to make her ‘sticky plum flapjack’.
Ms Atkins-Ward said, ‘Getting children cooking and eating food from a young age is paramount, getting them used to colours and textures is essential, because it builds up their confidence. It’s about making it fun and enjoyable, allowing young children to play with different food, and remembering there’s plenty they can do in the kitchen with the right planning and supervision.’
