Learn the rules

Recruitment businesses run from an internet website are included among those who have to comply with the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations coming into force in April. The new rules will require, among other things, that all agencies must check out candidates before recommending them for jobs. After years of lobbying for greater regulation of recruitment agencies, PANN is delighted, but Tricia Pritchard is concerned that some agencies seem to think the new law does not apply to them. To keep everyone informed, PANN is hosting a seminar about the regulations for nanny agencies at its Derby headquarters on 29 March. A representative from the Department of Trade and Industry will speak and the seminar will cost Pounds 20, including lunch. For details contact PANN on 01332 372 337.
