The first local authority-run Children's Information Service in England to gain the coveted national quality standards award a second time is KITES Childcare Information in East Sussex. This award is given by the National Association of Children's Information Services, and benchmarked against the 14 minimum standards set by the Sure Start Unit at the Department for Education and Skills. The KITES team impressed the independent working panel with their commitment and progress since receiving the initial award three years ago. Earlier this week the staff travelled to London to be presented with the award by Margaret Hodge, minister for children.
