Interview: Helen Donohoe from PACEY on joining the Coram Group

Business
Helen Donohoe is head of Coram PACEY. The PACEY charity went into administration at the end of April before its work transferred to the Coram Group. PACEY was formed in 1977 as the National Childminding Association, founded by a small group of registered childminders, local authority staff and parents. It changed its name to PACEY in spring 2013.

With our 50th anniversary coming up in 2027, the PACEY board had been considering for some time how best to secure a long-term strategy. All PACEY services have now transferred into Coram. To facilitate this, PACEY had to go through the legal process of administration, as is unfortunately the case for so many small charities in today's climate.

This means that PACEY's services to more than 50 per cent of all registered childminders in England and Wales are secure and now sit alongside the work of Coram Family and Childcare as well as Coram Hempsall's. This will elevate childminders’ voices as we work on our key mission: to reverse the decline in registered childminders.
