In brief...Women are less likely to be paid overtime

Women are less likely to be paid overtime than men and their earnings lag behind men's by more than 100 a week, according to new research from Abbey National. Almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of men expect to see their earnings rise in a year's time, while 40 per cent of women expect to be receiving the same pay. But the research found that women enjoy greater job satisfaction. More than a quarter of women say they are happy in their jobs, compared with only 18 per cent of men, while double the number of men report that they are unhappy at work.
