Estelle Morris has been appointed to the newly-formed Department of Education and Skills (DES) as Secretary of State for Education. Ms Morris, a former teacher and the school standards minister since May 1997, replaces David Blunkett, named Home Secretary in the new Cabinet revealed this week.
