A 3m network of road safety schemes for children is set to get underway next year. The Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions has approved 38 bids from local authorities in England to pay for local child training co-ordinators who will train parent volunteers to teach schoolchildren road safety skills. DTLR Minister Alan Whitehead said 'As a parent, I recognise the importance of ensuring that children are aware of potential dangers.'
