Giving disabled children and their carers a legal right to respite care is the aim of a Bill launched at parliament by the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign last week. The Disabled Children's Short Breaks Bill would place a duty on local authorities and health services to provide regular breaks. The campaign is seeking a minimum funding of 150m per year.
