The memory works much like other information storage systems. The more organised you are about filing something, the easier it will be to find it when you need it. There are many ways of remembering things, some seemingly bizarre, but you should try them to see which work best for you.
Take singing, for example. Could you put Maslow's 'hierarchy of needs' to the tune of 'London's Burning'? It sounds an odd thing to do, but try it and if it works for you, that is what is important. Often it is the strangest ideas that have the best results.
