The 'Starting Out with Fisher-Price' pack contains guidelines for nursery nurses and teachers, a road safety song and a floor game incorporating Fisher-Price 'Play Family' characters. It is designed to reinforce important road safety issues with pre-school children such as playing in appropriate quiet areas rather than on busy roads, staying on the pavement, not crossing between parked cars, and using pedestrian crossings and crossing patrols. The game aims to stimulate role-play and discussion on road safety, such as the different forms of road crossing and the variety of traffic children see on their way to nursery.
More than 3,500 pre-schools are already enrolled in the free programme. To enrol and receive the free road safety pack and other planned learning packs, on what to look out for when playing outside and further issues to do with personal safety, write to 'Starting Out with Fisher-Price', Dept PR, FREEPOST NEA 8901, YO26 7ZZ. The road safety pack is available while stocks last.
