Staffing is an area in which extra expenses often go unnoticed. The National Institute of Economic and Social Research found that childcare employers regularly lose up to 30 per cent of their staff each year, which is the greatest threat to the sustainability of childcare businesses. It also found that many holiday play schemes recruit afresh every year.
