Equipment helpline

Q I am a SureStart creche worker looking for equipment for our book areas. We have a large room with book corners for both the over-twos and the babies. Any ideas and advice on how to make them more effective and appealing would be very welcome. A There are three main things to bear in mind when planning a book corner.

A There are three main things to bear in mind when planning a book corner.

First, it should be in the quietest part of the nursery and, if possible, separated from the rest of the room with some kind of screen. Second, it needs plenty of comfortable, softplay seating that would work with both your over-twos and the youngest children. Finally, and most importantly, all the books should be accessible to all the children.

LFC is a company specifically dealing with equipment for school libraries and it has a good range of book corner accessories, including a great selection of cushions and bean bags, plenty of attractive book storage and storytelling props. The telephone number is 08458 506507.
