Disclosure Scotland, part of the Scottish Criminal Records Office, will issue three levels of certificates, or disclosures, ranging from basic to enhanced. Organisations will be encouraged to register with Disclosure Scotland, which will issue the disclosures either to individual applicants or registered bodies.
A consultation on some aspects of the new system, including the levels of fees, is due to finish tomorrow (22 February - see News, 7 February). The proposed fee for an application for a disclosure has been set at 12, while the Executive will make 1m a year available to cover the costs of checks to voluntary organisations.
