In February, Nursery World published a questionnaire about nursery food provision in partnership with the children's organic food company Organix. A big thank you to those readers who took the time to fill it in and return it, because the survey shows some very interesting results (see News, page 6). The dedication of childcare settings to offering the best food possible for children shines through. This is not an easy task, given that 85 per cent are having to provide a range of special diets. More than half say that Government guidelines on healthy eating for under-fives have not been available to their nursery.

In response to the survey's findings, Lizzie Vann, the founder of Organix and children's food campaigner, is launching a national children's food advisory service offering free, expert advice on food and nutrition issues.

And you can read a review of Lizzie's new organic cookery book on page 26.
