Early Education has produced a series of four booklets aimed at early years practitioners

The national children's charity Early Education has produced a series of four booklets aimed at early years practitioners. Healthy Young Children by Dr Helen Zealley is a guide to creating an environment that promotes children's emotional and physical health. It includes worries of parents and carers and a list of common ailments and serious health problems. Not Just Pictures by Cathy Myer gives both inspiration and practical tips for helping children use the natural environment, drawing materials, paint, clay and textiles to explore and communicate through art. How to introduce maths through everyday nursery activities is explained in More Than Numbers by Carole Skinner, and More Than Words by Diane Rich is a guide to understanding how children develop communication, language and literacy, and what practitioners and parents can do to help them learn. The booklets cost 5 each (plus 50p p&p per book, with free p&p on orders of 30 or more) and are available from Early Education on 020 7539 5400.
