The conference will consider the care of babies in daycare settings in England, provisions made for them, environments created for them, policies and practice, and contemporary research about babies.
Key speakers include:
- Dr Jools Page from the University of Sheffield, who will speak about the choices, beliefs and dilemmas of understanding the perspectives of mothers about day-care for their babies
- Dr Peter Elfer from Roehampton University, who will consider the relationships in daycare settings, and
- Liz Attenborough from Talk to Your Baby at the National Literacy Trust, who will speak about understanding the importance of talking to babies.
- Professor Tricia David will chair the plenary session.
The conference will also celebrate the end of a research and development project carried out by Kathy Goouch and Sacha Powell from the university, who worked with practitioners from local nurseries who will be sharing their work.
