Early years settings across the country have been getting into the festive spirit - 'Ho, ho, ho.'

Meeting Father Christmas

Families from Play Days playgroup at St Stephen's Church, Telford, enjoyed a day out at Telford Wonderland.

They were met by an elf who handed them a letter from Father Christmas before taking them through to his log cabin grotto where they all received a present off Father Christmas. The playgroup said it was a truly magical day.

Christmas Fayre

Bright Horizons Church Crookham Day Nursery and Preschool in Fleet, Hampshire, held its annual Christmas fayre, with all of the money raised going towards the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.

A total of £190 was raised as a result of the sale of hot drinks, hot dogs and mince pies made by the children. The nursery also had stalls selling Christmas gifts, from body products to portraits, and the children had lots of fun decorating baubles and other decorations.

Christmas Card Competition

Little Acorns Worsley held a Christmas card competition and chose little Reuben Zelazowksi (pictured with his mum and older brother Isaac) as the winner. Reuben made his festive card with his family at home using finger paints to create the reindeers and their red noses joining Santa on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Launch Party

Bright Horizons Crawley Day Nursery and Pre-school held a Christmas launch party earlier this month to coincide with its grand opening. 

It had lots of exciting activities for the children including Christmas stalls, Santa’s grotto and mince pie baking.

Tree Time

Children at Bright Horizons Timperley Day Nursery and Preschool in Cheshire decorated the setting's Christmas tree.

The children played the part of Santa’s little helpers as they decorated the tree as well as themselves. They also took part in a Christmas carol session and sang in a circle around the tree.

Nursery manager Janette Schenk said, 'Decorating the Christmas tree is always an exciting time for the children as they embrace the festive spirit. We are all looking forward to Christmas and were delighted to see their creativity when decorating.'

Nativity Play

Little Acorns Day Nursery in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, held their annual nativity play.

The pre-school children told the traditional story with the help of narration from their room leader Emily. Toddlers and children in the baby room were also given the parts of angels and Santa's reindeers.

Christmas Decorations

Since the beginning of November all children at Raindrops Day Nursery in Harlow, Essex have been busy getting the Christmas decorations ready for the nursery’s annual decoration night - a night where all staff stay behind until late to transform the nursery into a magical Christmas wonderland.

The setting has also held a number of festive events - including a pre-school nativity play, and put on a number of activities.

Elfing for a Good Cause

Staff and children at Hopscotch Nursery in Brighton took part in the 'dress as an elf on the twelfth’ charity event to raise money and support the local children's hospital charity Rocking Horse. Staff and parents donated £1 to the charity to wear red and green. Children enjoyed festive craft activities including making hats with elf ears.

 Operation Christmas Child

The pre-school children from Humpty Dumpty Childcare nursery in Newton Abbot proudly explored some of the shoeboxes that were donated to this year's Operation Christmas Child. Families from all three of the group's South Devon nurseries took part to provide children across the world with a gift this Christmas.

Christmas Tree Festival

The under-2s from Footsteps'Tamworth Lichfield Road Nursery have been busy entering the Christmas Tree festival at St Editha's church in Tamworth. The children had to decorate a Christmas tree, so they decided to make a tree out of boxes.

Shoebox-Giving

Children at Bright Horizons Nursery on the Green and Preschool in Frimley Green, Surrey, have been filling shoeboxes full of goodies, to be handed out to other local children in the community at Christmas.

The boxes were delivered to the nursery, with the staff and children managing to fill a total of 36. They will now be delivered to a collection point and passed on to a local charity.

Outdoor Nativity

Children from the Red Hen Day Nursery in Louth, Lincolnshire, performed their annual outdoor nativity to a huge audience of parents and grandparents, featuring all kindergarten children as well as the nursery pony, Casper, who played the donkey. The performance was very atmospheric, in the dark with lots of twinkly lights and sheep ‘baa-ing’ in the back ground. One of the grandparents played the electric violin.

Bauble Time

Pre-school children at Bright Horizons Summerfields Day Nursery and Pre-school in Wilmslow, Cheshire have been getting into the Christmas spirit by decorating their tree. 

The children were able to choose their own materials and where on the tree they wished to place them, as they each took their turn to decorate the mini tree.

Winter Wonderland Walk

Parents, grandparents and siblings of children at Jubilee Day Nursery and Jubilee Gems Nursery in Padworth, Berkshire, joined together for a magical winter wonderland walk around Jubilee’s farm and woodland. Trees were twinkling with fairy lights and children’s artwork decorated the woodland. Over 500 people enjoyed the festive atmosphere, including an abundance of singing, festive refreshments, dancing Christmas toys and face painting.

Nativity Show Time

Children at Bright Horizons Footsteps Day Nursery and Pre-school in Farnborough, Hampshire have taken part in their nativity play and hosted the settting's annual fete.

The traditional play saw all of the children have a role, while parents also chipped in to help make the costumes. 

All of the activities raised more than £500 for the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.
