Invitations went out to Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships last month asking for nominations of trainers to attend one of nine regional events taking place this month and next. Those attending have to complete a distance learning course to familiarise them with the Birth to Three Matters materials.
Ann Langston, project manager of the Manchester Metropolitan University team that developed the framework, said the training days focus on ways of developing practice with young children and implementing Birth to Three Matters in childminding settings, nurseries and creches.
Following the regional events, these lead trainers will then train additional trainers, who are expected to include professionals such as speech therapists, nursery managers, National Childminding Association develop- ment workers and Pre-school Learning Alliance trainers, using materials from the regional training day. This training will begin in March using materials that have been distributed on CD-Rom to all EYDCPs.
