Harry's balance is sturdier this month and improving all the time. His movements are getting quicker and he plays crawling chase games with big sister Jasmine, following her around the room, beaming with excitement at the chase. At times she chases and catches him, giving him enthusiastic hugs when he is caught, which Harry doesn't always appreciate!
At meal times Harry eats with enthusiasm. He is particularly fond of finger foods, especially bread, cheese, cucumber, grapes and banana.
Harry is inquisitive and loves to explore. He enjoys items that he can find inside other containers and is at an ideal age for exploring a treasure basket.

1 The pincer grasp is where the infant begins to pick up small objects using the thumb and index finger.
2 An infant begins to stand and move sideways when they feel ready to do so, usually following on from learning to crawl, and an eagerness to reach something, or to see 'what's up there'. The timing of the onset of this stage can vary widely. An early start to 'weight bearing' would only normally be a problem if the infant was being encouraged to do so by over-eager adults before they are really ready.
3 Ideal toys for a baby of this age would include a ball to roll towards them, musical toys to stimulate aural discrimination, and toys giving visual rewards for simple actions, such as a carousel to press down.
