A 731,000 children's centre

A 731,000 children's centre has been given the go-ahead by Leeds City Council. The centre in Hawksworth Wood, due to open in March 2004, will house a 50-place early education and childcare facility as part of a package of integrated services for families and children. The centre is backed by a Government grant which will increase the number of nursery places from 30 to 50. Other services in the building are expected to include counselling for domestic violence and drug- and mental health-related issues, training for childcare workers, and before- and after-school clubs.
