The Buskers Guide to Participation by Philip Waters challenges the values and reasons for undertaking participation with young people. It encourages a shift away from 'doing' participation to seeing participation as a way of 'being', with practical suggestions.
The Big Buskers Guide to Leadership by Shelly Newstead is the first in the series to be written specifically for managers and those working in leadership roles. It looks at their role providing first-rate services for children and focuses on goals and communication.

BEATING THE RECESSION
The National Day Nurseries Association is offering 'masterclasses' to help nurseries weather the recession. 'Dealing with the Economic Downturn' can be delivered to groups of nurseries and is designed to help them implement practical strategies, such as reviewing costs and securing funding and support. Each session lasts for around two and a half hours and can fit in with a busy nursery day.
NDNA chief executive Purnima Tanuku says, 'Strengthening nurseries' business is about understanding the nature of the market, how local authorities can help and the importance of a pro-active approach to costs and promoting services.'
