The early years are the most powerful and important time to begin educating future global citizens about caring for the world around them. The values, habits and mindsets instilled in young children during this formative period can shape how they relate to the environment – and each other – for the rest of their lives.

But sustainability in the early years is about more than just teaching children to recycle or care for plants. It's about embedding a deep and lasting respect for the planet and for the people and systems that support life on it. As teachers and caregivers, we hold a collective responsibility to ensure there is a healthy, thriving planet for the next generation to inherit. That future will not be secured through working in silos: collaboration is essential.
