Happy New Year from Nursery World

Best wishes for a happy and successful year from the Nursery World team to all our readers, advertisers and everyone in the early years community.

2014 promises to be another action-packed year, and we've got plenty of great content planned for the next 12 months.

Some of our favourite authors will be contributing features to inform and advise early years practitioners – Helen Tovey on risk; Marion Dowling on vulnerable children; Nancy Stewart on children as storytellers; and Julie Mountain with a new series on outdoor provision using the 7Cs approach.

New names will include Birkbeck's Natasha Kirkham on the importance of boredom, and Dr Jo Van Herwegen with a two-part series on mathematics.

We're also starting a new poster series on materials, including glass, stone and plastic, starting with wool on 13 January.

If you want to catch up on early years practice and management why not explore our website and the wealth of resources that it contains?

  • See our Practice Guides, including Outdoor Provision, Treasure Baskets and Heuristic Play, Child Development, and Schemas.
  • Find lots of ideas for Activities.
  • Get up to speed on early years Legislation.

And remember, you can now comment on all our stories on the Nursery World website to have your say on everything that is happening.
