Walking Bus

Wednesday, September 29, 2004

More children may soon bemaking their way to school in a Walking Bus as part of new Government measures that aim to develop safer, healthier and more environmentally friendly ways to travel to school. The Walking Bus scheme, where pupils are collected from an agreed location, and then walk to school together escorted by volunteers, is just one of the innovative ideas targeted at tackling traffic congestion and cutting pollution in the draft School Transport Bill, which was published for consultation in March 2004. For more information see the website www.teachernet.gov.uk/sdtravel.
