The Big Picture - Act of kindness

Sunday, September 17, 2017

Children’s television series Clangers has joined forces with the NDNA to promote kindness.

Starting today (18 September), a month-long programme of weekly themed activities will include tips for best practice and encouraging children to be kind at nursery and at home.

This follows research commissioned by the TV show which found that 30 per cent of UK parents try to nurture kindness in their children from birth, 32 per cent begin at age one, 25 per cent at age two, and only 13 per cent wait until their child is three or older.

More than half of parents nurture kind behaviour in their children by being kind themselves or making a point of praising kindness, and 48 per cent talk to their children about kind actions, the survey said.
