The UK's third largest nursery chain Asquith Nurseries has expanded further with the acquisition of a North London Montessori group.

Norfolk Lodge School is an independent group made up of three nurseries and registered for a total of 304 children.

The individual settings are Norfolk Lodge Montessori Nursery in Barnet, Chantry Hall Montessori Nursery in Muswell Hill, and Haydon Hall Montessori Nursery in Pinner.

The group also operates Le Club Frere Jacques which provides French tuition through a team of travelling native-speaking French teachers.

This is the second buyout in Asquith’s publicised expansion plan for 2016, and follows that of Barley Barn Childcare last month.

This second deal takes Asquith to a total of 83 nurseries and over more than 6,300 places across the UK.

Andy Morris, chief executive of Asquith Nurseries, said, ‘We are delighted to have acquired the three Montessori settings of Norfolk Lodge Limited and we would like to thank Redwoods Dowling Kerr for once again assisting us with our growth plans.’

The deal was negotiated by Redwoods Dowling Kerr, a specialist broker in the childcare sector.

Paul Miller, chief executive of Redwoods Dowling Kerr, added, ‘This sale is yet another example of the strong growth which exists in the childcare market for quality acquisitions.’
