Like lots of people I wrote stories all the time when I was young, and when teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always used to say an author. Then in 2010 I suddenly realised there was nothing stopping me and I started to write my novel, Beyond Evidence.
How do you balance your job with writing?
Sometimes in the evenings after a busy day at the nursery my brain just falls asleep and I really can't be bothered to sit in front of a computer screen. But I try to write between one and a half and two chapters on a Sunday and when I'm on annual leave.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Obviously I love working with children; it's so much fun and very rewarding. But I'd love to be a full-time author. I'd like to use my expertise in childcare in my writing though. I have a children's book in the pipeline.
