They include, on Wednesday, Kim Binstead, who is working on a computer system that uses comedy to help children learn a new language; on Thursday, Dr Hugh Montgomery, an intensive care consultant who writes children's thrillers; and on Friday, Professor Marilyn Vihman, whose bilingual children are the subjects of her research into language development.

This documentary follows the work of Stephen Westaby at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where he is now acknowledged as one of the world's best cardiac surgeons.

Police Protecting Children

This first of a three-part series following the work of detectives who look into serious crimes against children follows the case of a five-year-old girl who suffered a fatal head injury at home and died. After her funeral, medical evidence emerged that suggested a history of physical abuse. The police requested a second post-mortem, the child's body was exhumed and her stepmother was taken into custody for questioning.
