Sir Brian Lamb asked to advise on how to tighten Ofsted's arrangements

Children's secretary Ed Balls has asked Sir Brian Lamb, who is leading the Lamb Inquiry into raising parents' confidence in the special educational needs system, to advise on how to tighten Ofsted's inspection arrangements to give more focus on special educational needs and disabilities.

Last week Sir Brian's review of SEN and disability information said thatwhile some parents praised their child's school and local authority, others often felt 'uninformed and sidelined' by schools. Mr Balls hasaccepted the report's recommendations, and the full report is due inSeptember. See www.dcsf.gov.uk/lambinquiry.
