Play England has called for schools to protect playtime and make more time for children to play during the school day.
A survey conducted by the charity found that 88 per cent of parents and80 per cent of children think that children are better behaved inlessons if they are allowed to play at break time, and this figure risesto 99 per cent for parents of five- to six-year-olds. More than 1,000adults and 1,000 children took part in the survey. Play England has alsoproduced a short film that explores how high-quality play facilities inprimary schools can help to improve children's academic performance andenjoyment of school.
