Advice about eating peanuts during pregnancy, breastfeeding and the first few years of life has been revised by the Government, following a review of scientific research which found no clear evidence that eating peanuts during these times affects the chances of a child developing a peanut allergy. Last December the board of the Food Standards Agency recommended changes to the advice that children under three, and pregnant or breastfeeding women, should avoid eating peanuts (News, 18 December).
