HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZAS

Settings across the country celebrated Halloween. Woodlands Day Nursery in Timperley, Cheshire (top) welcomed the Horrible Hex-Travaganza Show, who brought with them a variety of animals and reptiles for the children to meet. Children at Nursery on the Green in Frimley Green, Surrey (middle) and Treetops Hopscotch Day Nursery in Chester (bottom) dressed in spooky costumes and carved pumpkins.

Treetops Oaklands Day Nursery in Neston, Cheshire held a Halloween party and Treetops Dudley Nursery in the West Midlands (below) invited parents to join in with various themed activities.

PARENTS GET A CHANCE TO STAY AND PLAY

Child's Play Nursery in Dubai held a stay and play day for parents to observe what their children do during the nursery day. Activities included painting, playing in the sand and music lessons.

CHARITY BALLOON RACE

Step by Step Nursery in Bushey, Hertfordshire, organised a charity balloon race in aid of West Herts Hospital, Special Care Baby Unit.

MP TURNS UP FOR STORY TIME

Shadow Chancellor and MP for Morley and Outwood Ed Balls paid a visit to Jellytots Nursery in Drighlington in West Yorkshire.

Mr Balls, who was accompanied by the National Day Nurseries Association's chief executive, Purnima Tanuku, met children and staff and took part in story-time and music, rhythm and rhyme.

TOP MARKS

The Early Birds Nursery School in Walsall Wood, Walsall has been judged as outstanding by Ofsted. The nursery, which became part of the Co-operative Childcare earlier this year, has seen increased demand since earning top marks. Nursery manager Debbie Pritchard said, 'It is fantastic that our commitment to providing quality early years education and childcare has been recognised.

'Our skilled and dedicated professionals work hard to give the children the best opportunities to learn and develop.'

PINK PARTY

Staff and children at Bright Kids in Studley, Warwickshire dressed in pink to raise awareness of breast cancer. The children also helped make cakes to sell to parents.

PARENTS GET STUCK IN

London Early Years Foundation Nursery at Furze Children's Centre in Barking and Dagenham organised a variety of activities to recognise and celebrate parents' involvement. Several families joined in with children's mask making for an interactive story-telling session of Handa's Surprise.

A HELPING HAND

Elvetham Heath Day Nursery in Fleet, Hampshire has been working in partnership with its local church to support the Hart Food Bank charity. Parents and staff donated non-perishable foods, which the children then delivered to the church.
