Up to 78 new Neighbourhood Nurseries are to be created with awards totalling more than 8.7m announced earlier this week by the New Opportunities Fund. Recipients include the Tots World Day Nursery in Nottingham, which receives 100,000 to create 50 new places by refurbishing a former public house. Torbay Council receives 244,336 to build the St Peter and Mary Neighbourhood Nursery, which will include outdoor play facilities at Brixham C of E Infant School. The school's headteacher, Mel Easter, said, 'As an Eco school which encourages sustainability and raising awareness of everyone's role in their world, this grant will enable us to extend opportunities for the community.'
