Things to blow

There are so many wonderful little whistles, pipes and mouth organs on the market that it seems a shame to deprive children of the opportunity to play and hear these instruments because of health issues associated with blowing instruments. I'm not suggesting they should be available regularly, but they could be one occasional option in a planning rota of instruments. You can build ways to ensure the instruments are always washed into your planning.

Ocarinas

I like small plastic ocarinas as they:

* are easily cupped in small hands

* have fewer holes - small ones have two holes on each side played with dominant first and second fingers
