Storysacks offer an interesting format for involving parents in their children's learning. The original storysack concept was devised by former headteacher Neil Griffiths. Storysack schemes involve assembling sacks containing books and story props which help children learn through play alongside others, often their parents. Prompt cards give further ideas for using the materials.
While storysacks have been widely used, only limited documentation is available to show how schemes have developed in practice. More evaluations are needed to deepen our understanding of the processes involved and the most effective ways of conducting the work. This article is a contribution to that process.
