Head of private school fined

The head of a private school has been fined 20,000 for breaching health and safety laws following the death of a three-year-old boy in the school playground.

Kian Williams jumped and fell from steps while playing unsupervised atHillgrove School in Bangor, Gwynedd in July 2004. He died in hospitalfrom an MRSA infection the next month. Headteacher and owner JamesPorter was found guilty at Mold Crown Court last week but has lodged anappeal against his conviction.
