Reviewed by Marian Whitehead, language and early years consultant This is a practical guide aimed at early years workers in care and education settings to provide them with an answer to the question, 'what is good practice in early years care and education?' It includes self-assessment exercises and case studies.
The author focuses strongly on recent legislation in the areas of child protection, children's rights, health and safety, equality and anti-discriminatory practice.
The content is reliable and very sound but somehow lacks the kind of professional warmth it highlights in Chapter 2. The publication is text-heavy with no pictures and a lot of closely packed print to negotiate.
