Many practitioners will feel less confident when it comes to festivals from other religions and in taking a multicultural approach in general. Peter Baldock of the Cultural Mentoring Service looks at an initiative in Sheffield to promote good early years practice, working with the local Development Education Council, in his feature 'Take root' (pages 26-27).
Peter explains that to feel happy promoting an interest in and understanding of other cultures, practitioners have to first feel confident about their own cultural identity and have an appreciation for it.
