Many London boroughs are now hiring classroom assistants for half the cost of a nursery nurse. The result is that nursery nurses having to take these jobs are getting only half the pay they would have got before. It would appear that only a few boroughs are still holding on to the title nursery nurse at a decent wage. I now find myself in the position where I may have to take a classroom assistant post for half the salary, even though I have 20 years' experience of working as a nursery nurse.
