More than 3,000 childcare places will be subsidised across London in the first round of the Childcare Affordability Programme, the London Development Agency said last week. The 3,255 CAP-funded places, available from 14 November, are part of the 33m, three-year scheme, which aims to help working parents with the relatively high cost of childcare in the capital. A second round of bidding for places by London boroughs is expected to begin in January 2006. More information is available on www.lda.gov.uk.
