Bathwater temperature restricted

Building regulations will limit the maximum temperature of bath water to 48 degrees centigrade in new homes in England and Wales from this month to prevent hundreds of children being scalded each year.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents said three-quarters of hot bath water victims are under five years old. Northern Ireland is also due to adopt the move at a later date. Scotland adopted a similar change in 2006.
