Babies who sleep on their backs are safer and healthier

Babies who sleep on their backs are safer and healthier and sleep best in a room temperature of 16-20 degC, says a new cartoon-illustrated booklet, BabyZone, published for carers and parents by the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths. More than 500 babies die every year from cot death, accidents and infections. BabyZone is sponsored by the Community Fund and will be distributed to new parents by health visitors in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. For free copies call FSID on 0870 787 0885. It is also available online at www.sids.org.uk/fsid.
