
Trailblazing women and how their achievements continue to impact us today, became the focus for children at Cottage Day Nursery in Derby earlier this year to mark International Women's Day. ‘Our sector is predominantly led by women and we feel deeply passionate about teaching our little ones about inspirational women,’ explains pre-school co-ordinator Steph Bull. ‘We wanted to celebrate International Women's Day but try and avoid being tokenistic, by exploring the achievements of a range of women. Beyond historical figures, we also shone the light on the incredible women who shape the children's lives – their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters and, of course, the dedicated early years educators who nurture and guide them like a second family.’
