A visit left children in awe. By Annette Rawstrone

Blue lights were fiashing and the sirens were wailing when excited children from Dunky's Day Nursery received a visit from a fire engine and firefighters, including one of the children's dads.

Staff at the nursery in Culcheth, Cheshire arranged the visit because many of the children are fascinated by the emergency services. ‘The children's interests have been massive around people who help us,’ explains nursery manager Vicki Foy. ‘We regularly have fire brigade, police and ambulance role-play resources and books out so we were overjoyed when they said they could visit.’

‘We very much value our strong bonds with the children and their families. Solid relationships lead to more trust and better communication,’ explains Vicki.
