Many settings are reporting a large rise in the number of children presenting with additional needs, especially after the Covid-19 lockdowns.

To help those working in the sector meet the needs of children in their care, Nursery World in partnership with YPO brought together an expert panel to share practical advice for how practitioners and nursery leaders can support them and their parents.

The panel discussed four key areas:

Becky Eckersley at Kids Planet identified speech and language development as the most impacted by the lockdowns. She said, ‘I can’t believe we’re still talking about [Covid-19], but I do think it has had an impact on the children we are seeing within our settings.
